Going to get rid of some of my surplus computer gear this week! most of it has been sitting int he attic for at least a year, most since we moved into the house back in 2009.

One base speaker for a computer. Not sure what happened to the surrounding speakers and this is pretty worthless without them

Another random project that is on hiatus...

I wanted the perfect geek multi-tool. Something small, but containing everything a geek would need to tear down a computer or make basic repairs to electronics. So the first thing I did was buy a cheap multi-tool and rip it a part to see how it worked!

Still in a bunch of little parts in a baggy in my desk. :(

One half used bottle of apple-tini mix. I'm not even really sure when or why I would have bought this.

Obviously it was a while back, the best used date is Jun 24 2006....yuck.

This a disassembled L-shaped desk that I'm letting go.

I really struggled with this one, as I really wanted this a few years ago and was really happy to have it. However, the added work space never really helped and it was pretty darned big.

I though seriously about trying to save it, but even being as careful as I could, flat-packed furniture just does not stand up well to being taken apart and moved around a lot. This is the 3rd time I've had to disassemble it for moving, and the attachments for the screws are falling apart. Also, I noticed that the actual desk itself has started to sag in the middle quite a bit.

All in all, I probably could store it somewhere and put it back together at a later date, but with no real window on when we'd have enough space again to set it up, it just makes more sense to let it go.

Besides, next time, I may just build one.... :)

 I have no clue as to what this giant brush is for. The previous homeowners left it (apparently they didn't know what it was either) and it has been in my way ever since.

This is what happens when you start wearing a lot of cool belt buckles, you end up with a bunch of plain ones that you never use.

And if you are like me, you keep them around because you fancy yourself "crafty" and may have plans for something like this "one day".

And if you are are like Tina, you spend years trying to convince me to get rid of them. In fact, you may create an entire plan around convincing me to make a Projectrama one year be "Getting Rid of One Item a Day" on the off hand chance that I'll finally get rid of that stupid buckle.

Not that that is what happened.

Tentatively going to slate them for recycling via the metal drop bin at the Wake County dump. If anyone wants/needs a sack of nuts, let me know and you can have mine.

Think is class Rob Brain.
We had a Kreug coffee maker that died under warranty and the company replaced it. (Very good customer service!). Instead of mailing the broken machine to them, they just wanted us to send the little part the holds the K-cup and toss the machine.
Fine, no problem! But there was a perfectly good reservoir on the old one, it would be a shame to waste it. Especially if we get unlucky one day the reservoir on the new machine...

...yeah, I'm going to stop me right there. If it breaks, we'll get a new machine. One have Kreug send us a new one.

Rob's alive! (Make-up post!)

Shortly after posting my two week success story, I promptly came down with the "ick" that left me unmotivated to do anything other than watch "The A-Team" on Netflix.

So, here is what I would have posted on 16th-18th had I not been an official plague carrier...

Jan 16th:

This is knock-off Gerber Clutch (or maybe the real thing, I don't remember) I got on my big multi-tool kick a few years back. Great little tool, especially the pliers that butterfly out, however, I've nearly killed myself a few times with the blade.

There's some issue that the blade is too loose or the metal structure is woo weak, whichever, the blade will pivot right and left if you put any pressure on the knife. This, in-turn, causes the entire knife to flip one way or the other and you to nearly stab yourself.

I'll miss not having the pliers, but I enjoy my blood circulating inside my unpunctured skin a little tool much to carry this.

Yep, this is a ~18" piece of aluminium channel for a failed project. The only purpose it has served in the last 4 years is to remind me of said failed project.

That and to be waived about like sword while I clean the garage.

Lastly, one complete set of door knobs and dead bolts, left-overs of re-placing all the knobs on the house so I only have to have 1 house key (as opposed to 3. Yes, 3.)

I've been telling my self that someone probably could use them, but since it's been 6 months and it's not moved from the workbench...

Those of you that know me will find it hard to believe that I'd tossing a bit home brew goodness, but hear me out...

This is one of two Belgian style beers my brother-in-law brewed and gave me. I drank one and put one away for later. 4 years later, I'm now deathly afraid of the contents of this bottle. I know, Belgians are ideal for cellaring... still I winced in horror when I cracked the seal on this guy.

Today, my stockpile of brew kit boxes is the causality:

My local brew store (American Brewmasters) sells brewing kits in these boxes. All of the ingredients you need to make 5 gal. of beer comes inside. As either a cost-cutting measure, or a trying to friendly to the planet, they offer 50 cents off on your next brew kit if you bring the box back.

I've purchased 5 kits from them and all have made fabulous beer from each, however, a keen observer will notice that there are 5 empty boxes in the above picture. I *never* return the kit boxes. They simply sit in a stack with my brewing supplies taking up space. Despite my best intentions to return them, I never remember to toss them in the Jeep before I go.

So, they are gone. Next time I look over my brewing supplies, I'll not have the guilt of once again forgetting to turn these things in! Double win!
