Projectrama (formally "Project Insanity") is a yearly activity to pick one long or difficult project to work on throughout the year. This blog focuses on the efforts of a group that are all working on the same project for 2015: de-cluttering by getting rid of one item a day. Anyone that wishes to join can message the admin to post on your item of day!

Rob's Post for Dec 29
not even sure where I got this guy, maybe a bonus add-on from ThinkGeek? It's been sitting on a shelf for at least 3 years.
Off to Goodwill!
Rob's post for the 39 days he missed this year...
All this stuff. And more.
Books I've had for years but never read and some that I will never read again (the Dark Tower Series book 2 was dud for me). And I'm not sure if I will have the time to build an electric car until long after they become readily available).
Chipped coffee mugs, old CDs I'd forgotten existed, supplies to build window screens (easierr at this point to get new windows, they come with screens...).
More clothes? How is that even possible? I thought I'd tossed out at least 2 wardrobe at this point.
39 things that have just been sitting around the house, taking up space and most importantly: not contributing to my life. See ya!

Rob's pick for 12/28
This shapeless blob is a pair of PJ bottoms that I think I got last Christmas (...or the one before...).
Anyway, they are super soft if a little big, and totally something I would wear...only I haven't. For whatever reason, they still have the tags from the store.

Rob's pick for 7/19
My fishing hat!
Though, i never go fishing, and it is too small to comfortably fit on the melon I have for a head.

Rob's pick for 7/18
This was given to all Duke Employees the first year I worked there. It is a neat blanket / ground cloth that rolls up into a neat little package for easy traveling.
The fundamental issue is that it is a bit too small for two people to share, so it sits in the attic while Tina take blankets and large beach towels to fill this role.

Rob's picks for 7/6 and 7/7
I like both these shirts but never wear them so I feel it is time to part ways.
This one tries very hard to be a Hawaiian shirt, and I've worn it several times to the beach and summer parties. the issue is that the print is a bit too dark and the fabric a bit too heavy so I end up sweltering.
Fate: Goodwill
This one has a strange front seem that "tents" out and just looks strange. I spend a good part of the day I were this shirt self consciously trying to smooth it out.

Rob's pick for 7/4
Happy July 4th!
Beer + Linux! You would think this would be something I'd keep!
Nope. 22oz glasses are really not practical for home use so this sits on a shelf.

Rob's pick for 7/3
This is really nice over the should bag I got from a conference back in 2007.
It would be fantastic if I actually use or even like that style bad. Sadly, I do not so it has been sitting in the attic for all these years.

Rob's pick for 6/29-30
Don't worry, I'm not doing Sock Week again. These pairs just survived the last go round.
I just do not like these socks, mainly the color. They are just too light for outfits I tend to wear. I think they still have the fold lines from the packaging they came in, and I wouldn't be surprised if I've never worn them.

Rob's pick for 6/26-27
Finally! Stuff I'm getting rid just b/c it is old and need to make room...
Well, the red "GEEK" shirt falls into that category. Vintage a computer show from 2007.
The other one...well, that is a gift from my brother. It is from Hooker Brewing, a company that loves to play on their name. It's ruined at least one sweet family picture fro my mother-in-law. I'd keep it, but alas, it is a XL and that coupled with the STD comment means I just don't wear it much.

Rob's pick for 6/22-23
A couple of shirts I don't wear any longer because they are too big.
Seriously, the amount of clothing that I have laying around that is too large for me is scary. I thought I'd gotten rid of most of it a long time ago, but this at least the tenth post that I've gotten rid of something bc of the size.

Rob's (catch-up) pick for 6/13-14 and 6/15 pick
One large pillow / backrest thing. It has spent far more time in a closets than ever out and in use.
Fate: Goodwill
Dad got me this back in late High School and I've kept it not so much for the advise (which boils down to "put yourself in the other persons place") but because I have trouble getting rid of books.

One loose tray of assorted stuff left over from a big LEGO sort I did after I required a large bin of LEGO. This is the stuff that were not LEGO or I didn't know what to do with, over time I've eBayed or given away most of the things in this pile that I thought were worth anything. I'm just trashing the rest rather than spinning my wheels trying to find a home for the remainders.

Rob's pick for 6/1
This one hurts to get rid of. so much so that I may get another before the new move it out.
"Han Shot First" is a battle call to the Star Wars fans that reject Lucas' revisionist efforts of his own work in the late 90's. The original movies was updated with newer audio and visual effects, but Lucas took the opportunity to play with some scenes. The most egregious for fanboys being trying to make Han Solo a bit softer and "kid friendly" by making him shoot a rival in defense rather than preemptively.
Ug.
Anyway, not to descend into the rant, at least more-so, this shirt beautifully encapsulates the irritation Star Wars fans feel at the Lucas's changes.
And, it is and XL so I never wear it.

Rob's pick for 5/31
Another shirt I've been holding onto simply because I like it (Sluggy Freelance was one of my favorite webcomics for years).
Again though, it dates back to my heavier years and I simply do not wear XLs any longer. I think the chances of some random shopper at Goodwill knowing about the webcomic is pretty low, but who knows, it may be a little low-key marketing opportunity for the site!

Rob's pick for 5/30
I like it, it fits my style (and I love the song) but its not really fit my bod, so it languishes in the back of my closet.

Rob's pick for 5/26
I've often joked about my wife's extensive t-shirt collection, and to be fair it is spread over 3 drawers...
Mine is a little out of control too, I've already gone through my actual dresser where I keep t-shirts I wear, now I'm starting to go through all the secret nooks and carnies that I've hidden a bunch that I no longer wear but haven't exactly come to peace about getting rid of.
This is one of the newest, an XL I picked up from Dragon Con...10 years ago? 11? 12? Wow. It has been a while. I like the shirt (even if the Latin is a bit broken), but I no longer wear XLs and with a 9 month old, "Carpe Noctem" means making it to 10pm.

I really nice screwdriver set with several attachments (slot/Phillips/trox/) that I've never taken out of the package. Bah!
Sending to Goodwill for someone to use.

Another for the category of "I have a virtual copy that I pay all the time, why do I need the box"?

Rob's pick for 4/30
Yet another video game I no longer play.
The main reason for this one is it had an extensive creation system that I wanted to use and host adventures online for my friends. I never really managed that, and there are now newer (and free!) tools to do just this.
