Half Way!

Wow!

We are half way through the year! Well, close enough February being short and there being an odd number of days throws the count a bit...

Still we've pitched, donated or given away 181 items, each! That's 181 things that were laying around that we probably do not even miss. I know I don't!

It is starting to get tough, but keep at it! Half down, half to go!

The Rules

So, you want to join in with the fun, eh? What are the rules?

Make them up yourself! The rules are not nearly as important as consistently working towards a goal. Figure out for yourself what the rules should be that will help you stay motivated towards the goal.

That being said, here are the rules my wife and I set out for ourselves to follow. Feel free to steal from, modify or use as a guide for your own Projectrama!

  • At least 1 Item per day, everyday, must be gotten rid of in 2015
  • You can stockpile items (as long as the piles are neat!), but only 1 per day count (you can't get rid of 30 books one day and be set of a month)
  • You can start late, but must run into 2016 to "make up" (Start on Jan 3rd 2015 and end on Jan 3th 2016)
  • For things being trashed, recycled or donated, it counts the day you put the item in the trash can, recycle bin donation pile.
  • For things given to others or sold, it counts on the day the item leaves the house
  • You cannot get rid of an item by giving it to someone else in the house (eg: I can't give an item to my infant son. The point is to declutter, not kick the can)
  • The item must have been in the residence longer than 3 months to count

Inaugural Post!

Welcome to the Projectrama 2015 Blog!

Last year (2014) the challenge was to read all 15 books of the Wheel of Time series (about 4.4 million words). Back in 2012 the challenge was to find a Geocache every single day of the year. I enjoyed slowly working towards these goals over the course of the year and finally getting that moment of triumph of accomplishing a hard to reach goal.

This year's Projectrama was suggested by my wife: get rid of 1 item a day. It doesn't matter how, ebay them, donate to Goodwill, pass them off to friends, trash recycle them, whatever.

If this sounds like something you'd like to join in, GREAT! If you want to post the things you are getting rid, shoot me an email and you can become an official contributor to this blog!

If you rather come up with some other project, that's fine too! I'd love to hear about what other insane activities people are trying to accomplish! I urge you to find something that you've been putting off and get it done in 2015. Tell your friends too, I was surprised how much support I received when I told people I was trying to fine a Geocache a day (I got a lot of strange looks, granted, but also a huge amount of support)!
